Hindu Matrimony in the USA: Matches Who Live Here

NRI Hearts helps Hindu families find a match who already lives in the United States: someone who knows the commute, the visa questions and the distance from grandparents in India. You can search for yourself, or a parent can register for a son or daughter.

Each profile on NRI Hearts is email-verified and manually reviewed by our team before anyone can see it. Registering and searching are free, and our kundali matching is free too.

Search by your language, region and community

"Hindu" covers families from Chennai to Chandigarh, so most people narrow the search to their own language or community first. Each page below shows members in the USA from that group, with notes on where they tend to live.

Kundali, manglik and muhurat when one family is in India

Many Hindu families still want the horoscopes matched before a first meeting, even when the couple grew up in New Jersey or Texas. The usual sticking point is the birth details: a chart is calculated for the exact time and place of birth, so a groom born in Houston and a bride born in Vijayawada need their own local times, not India time for both.

Our free kundali matching takes each person's own place of birth and gives the 36-point guna score, and our manglik dosha guide explains what families usually do when only one chart is manglik. When it comes to the wedding muhurat, remember the date is chosen for where the ceremony happens, so ask your priest to work it out for the US city, not for your hometown.

Hindu temples where families meet, state by state

Temples are still where many introductions start in the US, through a family friend at a festival or a priest who knows both families. These are some of the temples named in our community guides, each of which has addresses, wedding services and more temples nearby.

  • Texas: the Sri Meenakshi Temple and BAPS mandir in Houston; the DFW Hindu Temple and Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple around Dallas. See the Texas guide.
  • California: the Shiva-Vishnu Temple in Livermore and the Balaji temple in San Jose in the Bay Area; the Malibu Hindu Temple near Los Angeles.
  • New Jersey: the Sri Venkateswara Temple (Balaji Mandir) in Bridgewater. See the New Jersey guide.
  • New York: the Hindu Temple Society of North America (Ganesh Temple) in Flushing, Queens. See the New York guide.
  • Illinois: the Sri Venkateswara Swami (Balaji) Temple and the Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago. See the Chicago guide.
  • Georgia: the Hindu Temple of Atlanta and the BAPS mandir. See the Atlanta guide.
  • Washington: the Hindu Temple & Cultural Center in Bothell and the Bellevue Hindu Temple. See the Washington guide.
  • North Carolina, Virginia–DC, Pennsylvania and Florida: see the North Carolina, Virginia–DC, Pennsylvania and Florida guides.

Meeting in person: Hindu matrimonial events in the USA

If you would rather meet several people face to face, two not-for-profit organisers run matrimonial events for Hindu singles in the US. Hindu Matrimonial USA is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) that holds events for Hindu, Jain and Sikh singles, and HinduVivah lists its events on Eventbrite. Dates and cities change through the year, so check each one's page for the next event.

Events and an online profile work well together: you meet people in a room, and families can keep looking between events.

Making a Hindu wedding legal in the US

A Hindu ceremony on its own doesn't make a marriage legal in the US. You need a marriage licence from the county first, and the priest or officiant signs it after the ceremony. The rules differ by state, so check the county clerk where the wedding will happen. Three examples:

  • California: you must have a licence issued in the last 90 days, and San Francisco's clerk is plain about it: "You are not married until you have a ceremony" (sf.gov).
  • Texas: Harris County says there is a 72-hour waiting period after you buy the licence, and the officiant should sign it within 90 days (Harris County Clerk).
  • Florida: a licence is valid for 60 days and goes back to the clerk who issued it once the wedding is done (Hillsborough County Clerk).

What to check about a match who lives in the USA

Before families agree to anything, ask the questions that matter for a life in the US: where the person actually lives, whether they are a citizen, a green card holder or on a work or student visa, whether either of you would move, and how involved each family expects to be. These checks are the family's own responsibility, because NRI Hearts doesn't verify visa status, marital status or income.

Our checklist for verifying an NRI groom or bride lists the official places to confirm each of these, and our safety tips cover what not to share early on.

Questions families ask

Is there a free Hindu matrimony site in the USA?

Yes. On NRI Hearts, registering, creating a profile and searching for Hindu brides and grooms in the USA are free, and so are our kundali matching and marriage biodata tools. Messaging other families is on a paid plan.

Can parents in India register for a son or daughter in the USA?

Yes. Choose "My Son" or "My Daughter" when you register. The parent runs the account, but the photo and details must be of the son or daughter who is getting married. Our step-by-step guide walks through it.

How does kundali matching work if one family is in India?

Each chart is calculated for that person's own birth time and place, so it doesn't matter that one of you was born in the US and the other in India. Enter both sets of birth details in our free kundali matching to see the guna score and manglik status.

Are there Hindu matrimonial events in the USA?

Yes. Hindu Matrimonial USA, a volunteer-run non-profit, holds face-to-face events for Hindu, Jain and Sikh singles, and HinduVivah lists events on Eventbrite. Check their own pages for upcoming dates and cities.

How does NRI Hearts verify Hindu profiles?

We check the email address on every profile, and our team reviews each one by hand before it is published. Members can also add a Photo verified badge with a short live selfie. We don't check documents, visa status or marital status, so families should confirm those themselves.
