Hindu Temples in Belgium, plus Gurdwaras and Jain Temples

By Venkata Nagireddi, Founder & CEO, NRI Hearts · Last reviewed 21 October 2026

Belgium's main Hindu temples are Brussels Mandir in Evere, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Antwerp and ISKCON Radhadesh near Durbuy, with smaller ISKCON centres in Brussels and Antwerp and a purpose-built Hindu temple still under construction. The Sikh community has its gurdwaras mainly in Limburg, and Antwerp has a Jain temple. Every detail below comes from each place's own website or the source named beside it, checked on 21 October 2026.

Listing a temple, gurdwara or centre here does not mean it is a partner of, or endorses, NRI Hearts. Times change, especially around festivals: check with the place itself before you go.

How many Hindus live in Belgium?

Estimates range from about 7,900 to 40,000. The Association of Religion Data Archives counted about 7,900 in 2015; the Hindu Forum of Belgium estimated 40,000 in 2023, about half of them Western converts (both as cited by Wikipedia). We found no official government figure. The wider Indian community, of every faith, is about 35,000 people (Embassy of India, Brussels).

Hindu, Sikh and Jain weddings at temples in Belgium

In Belgium the civil marriage at the town hall must take place before any religious ceremony (Flemish government), so a temple or gurdwara wedding is always the second step. What the places above say on their own websites:

  • Brussels Mandir lists priests who perform pujas, including for marriages.
  • ISKCON Radhadesh offers samskaras such as name-giving and Upanayana, but does not list weddings.
  • The other temples, gurdwaras and the Jain centre do not publish wedding, priest or hall-hire services online: ask them directly.

For the civil side, documents and timing, see getting married in Belgium as an Indian and planning an Indian wedding in Belgium.

Visiting tips

  • Remove your shoes before entering the prayer hall; dress modestly.
  • In a gurdwara, cover your head (scarves are usually available) and do not bring tobacco or alcohol.
  • Festival days are busy: Diwali in Brussels is also celebrated at the Brussels Diwali Festival at the Atomium on 24–25 October 2026 (visit.brussels).
  • Opening times change around festivals; check each website or phone ahead.
